Step 1 (8/21/19-8/26/19) Background Research:

You will read two articles around the CLS debate and begin to understand the core concepts of the debate. Make sure to pay attention to the arguments and points provided as well as the evidence that supports those points. For each article, write a brief summary and evaluation. Consider these questions: What is the main claim or finding of the article? Why will this source be useful for your literature review? How helpful is the article to your research? How effective is it as a source?

Everyone will read one article together and you will find the second article on your own.

Step 2 (8/28/19-9/6/19):

UNIT 1 FEEDER 1: Create a “Mini” Annotated Bibliography

Length: 2 sources with annotations (two paragraphs: one for summary and one for evaluation)
Manuscript preparation: MLA

Prepare a list of 2 sources that you will use for your Unit Project. Your sources should mainly come from academic journals, although you may include an article or chapter from 1-2 books. Do not use Internet websites unless they are particularly credible, official, or important sources of information on your topic (i.e., official government websites, or vetted non-profit organizations). For each source, write a brief summary and evaluation.
